Hello there!

Welcome to BuzzinBumble!

God is the ultimate craftsman; we can see His masterpieces all around us. We are made in His image and perhaps that is why so many of us find fulfillment in artistic expression.  Every one of us has the potential to be a creative person.

Hi, I'm Lara!
I'm the mother of three young adults who are each the apple of my eye. Actually, one will correct me and tell you that she is the pumpkin and the other two are apples.  I am also mother-in-law to two wonderful young men. We have a brand new granddaughter now too!
I am a Christian and am very grateful to God for all He does!
I am nuts about dogs. "Rescued" is my favorite breed.
I like to embarrass my children. (That’s my story and I'm sticking to it.)
I am very hearing impaired... which lends itself to the aforementioned ability to embarrass my children.  I have advanced bilateral Meniere's Disease, Fibromyalgia, and Hashimoto's Disease... so you will sometimes notice that it takes me longer to finish projects than the average blogger.
I am a life-long crafter & sewist, but it wasn't until a few years ago that I was finally able to say “I am a Quilter!”  Quilting has become my favorite way to express my creative voice.  Working with color and pattern and fabric is so much fun!  I don't think there is any other art form that expresses love so well or provides so much comfort, both for the maker and the recipient, as quilting does.

I'm also a pattern designer and an author.  My first book was published by The American Quilter's Society on April 1st, 2016.  It is about a fun new way to do raw edge applique quilting (with no fraying) and is called "Crafted Appliqué: New Possibilities".  If you click on the link you can learn more about it on its very own blog page here.

You will regularly find original projects, tutorials, and free patterns here on BuzzinBumble.  Be sure to say "Hello!"  One of the best things about blogging is getting to know new friends!

BuzzinBumble Helpers: my three kiddos

Hi, I'm Alina!
I'm a lawyer, environmentalist, and aspiring ukulele player.
I live in Albany with my husband Gonzo and our rather weird cat, Willow.

Hi, I'm Kait!
I'm a new Mom and a big supporter of pet rescue.
That's how I found my dog, Olive.
I like listening to music and reminiscing.

"We use things like stories, and pictures, and music to show us who and what and why we are."

Hey! I'm Sam, my mom's favorite child and only son. I am a technology professional and am currently working in information management as a data/project manager. I act as my mother's tech support, though truth be told, she does not need much help. She
is very tech savvy! I love watching this blog progress and can't wait to see what she does next!

  1. What a wonderful blog and family you have! I loved reading about you. God Bless.

  2. I love meeting you and reading about your life! Thanks for sharing it with us! I can't wait to see what is coming down the road!

  3. Your family sounds like ours!!!!! God is our number 1, I am a 38 year mother of a total of 6 children all grown but one 16 year old who thinks she is grown. I have a wonderful husband, 2 dogs and 4 cats!!!!! I am a new quilter and as of 7 months ago was a nurse but now am disable and struggling. They say God only gives us what we can handle, but I am thankful for my entire family because I don't know how I would physically or mentally survive with out them!!!!!! 4. What a gorgeous family. I love that you all support each other.

  5. What a great family and that includes the dogs! We have two rescues, Sky and Kayla 9 and 10, and just got a black German shepherd puppy, Riley. We take them on trips and their smiling faces bring us great joy! I have a joke for Jim, Why did the blonde stare at the orange juice can? ...because it said, --concentrate! Hah!

  6. So glad to be able to put faces to your names!

  7. OMGosh, Lara! How have I not visited this page before?!?! I love your family!!! Hugs from Montana all around!!! :)

  8. Yours is the first blog I have made a comment on. I love all things fabric - but actually have very little time to indulge I work full time and have a disabled spouse so I keep pretty busy. But after making a major move 4 years ago, my craft room is organized and I'm starting to get a few things done! I have joined a quilt guild because I was dying on the vine creatively - and they are a wonderful group of ladies. We also have two rescues - Micki Girl lost an eye and Buddy has lost a leg. You wouldn't know they have handicaps - they inspire us every day. May God Bless you richly as you share your self with this community. You are definitely letting your light shine!

    1. Susi, thank you for the honor of being your first blog comment. I'm replying here, because your comment came in with no other way to contact you, because you are a "no-reply commenter". You do sound like you have way more than enough to keep you busy. Quilting is a great way to rejuvenate and express your creativity. I really admire that you adopted two special needs pets! May God Bless you too!

  9. Hi there! I'm so happy to have discovered your blog after following a link about your book. What a fun site! Can't wait to get the book! I'm a new, self-taught quilter and am totally obsessed!

  10. Lara, I received a copy of your book yesterday and can't wait to get started using your method of applique. I have a project underway using fusible web. I don't want to cut out all of those pieces again and was wondering if you have tried your Crafted Applique method on top of fusible web. I am following your blog hop and am enjoying "meeting" all the bloggers.

  11. Hi Lara, I'm following your blog hop and signed up to follow your blog as well, at that time. I received one email from you in response to my comment on your blog. But I haven't received blog post notices from you since then, and I see you have posted since the hop started. I don't want to miss your posts and I know I'm following you because I tried signing up again and it said I already follow you. How often do you send emails regarding your blog posts?
    Thank you.

  12. Hi Lara, thank you for the fat quarters you sent me through Hands to Heart. I have special plans for them. Just got your book and can't wait to try this. Thanks again. Doris Miller dmiller124 at att dot net.

  13. well, shoot! I hope you see this comment as you turned off the current post comments.
You don't have to answer each one to get them you know.. we still want to tell you how beautiful the adirondaks are! We used to go every year with our poodle but he passed this year. We couldn't bear to go without him. LeeAnna at not afraid of color
